Day Activities

Day 1 Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Experience

Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi, followed by a scenic drive toward Materuni Village, located approximately 80 km from Arusha and 15 km from Moshi, with a driving time of about 1.5 to 2 hours from Arusha and 30 to 40 minutes from Moshi. The drive offers beautiful views of Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days, passing through vibrant local villages and fertile agricultural land at the mountain’s base.

Upon arrival in Materuni Village, you will be welcomed by a local guide who will lead you on a guided nature walk and hike to Materuni Waterfalls. The hike covers approximately 3 km one way and takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on pace and weather conditions. The trail passes through banana plantations, coffee farms, and natural forest, with opportunities to learn about local plants, traditional Chagga farming techniques, and village life. The final approach opens to a spectacular view of the waterfall plunging into a natural pool below, creating a perfect spot for photography, relaxation, and swimming. The water is cool and refreshing, ideal after the hike.

After spending ample time at the waterfall, you will hike back to the village for a traditional Chagga coffee tour.
